You are not going to be one of those lax parents and you’ve been trying hard to diligently protect your children. “I have an internet filter, we have computers in open areas, my son had to sign a contract to be able to get an iPhone, and we had the talk about what they need to watch out for.” That is good…but you may not even have been aware of the four most dangerous places for kids to be online.
The bottom line is that we can never sit back and feel confident. Remember to guard your home at three levels – the location level, the router level, and the device level. Have consistent and persistent conversations with your child, asking him/her what they are experiencing on the internet. Even though we need to do our duty and protect where possible, ultimately, the only effective filter is the one they take with them in their mind and heart. Proverbs 22:6 tells us,
train a child in the way he should go.
