Instagram

Oct 26, 2016 | Practical Advice and Research

Instagram has recently gained much popularity, even among our young people.

This app allows the user to take a quick picture or video to share a moment of someone’s life. The file can then be shared privately or publicly on the app, as well as through a variety of other social media platforms such as Facebook and Twitter.

Methods of communication are rapidly changing and parents should communicate the risk of sending pictures to others….especially when the recipient is unknown to the sender.

We raise an alarm about the use of the Instagram app by anyone and strongly advise not to begin! This app even allows the user to access open internet without any limits.

Mr. Chris Mckenna has to say the following:

“…..we discourage younger middle school usage, but from a practical perspective, we know that many parents are going to allow it. Parents just need to know the risks and understand that it does have a very dark side in terms of content and potential impact on self-image if left unmonitored. We just do not believe Instagram is the right way for any middle schooler to start his/her adventure into social media.

Unfiltered Internet Access! We recently discovered that users can gain access to unfiltered internet searches in Google, Bing, and Yahoo through the Instagram Blog, which has a link to Twitter at the very bottom.“
